May makes and June plans

I cannot believe I’m writing another monthly round up (albeit a week late!) 2020 is flying by! It’s been a strange time lately and although I’ve had more time on my hands, I’ve found it difficult to sew. I’ve got loads of ideas and fabrics but just no motivation. However, I started back at work this week and I think the normality has helped. It’s made me determined to have some sewing time at the weekend so I can crack on with my summer plans!

Having just said I struggled with sewing in May, I actually did very well. I planned to make 3 items and I managed to almost make 4.

The first was my Paper Theory Olya Shirt. I’m very pleased to say that this is almost complete. I just need to do the buttons and button holes. My new Pfaff machine seems to handle button holes easily so that will be completed very soon.

My next plan was the Tabitha Tshirt by Tilly & the Buttons. I’m very proud of myself as I actually made two!! I made a black version and a white version. I love them! I love the fabrics! In fact, I love the black fabric so much that I bought some more and I’m currently making the dress version with it!

My final plan was the Miller Trousers by Paper Theory. I made these! These have been on my to-sew list for a few months and I’m very pleased to have made them! Super easy to make and super comfortable!

June plans

If you saw my Spring/Summer plans post, you’ll know that I have lots that I want to make so I’ll mainly be working through those. I also plan to sew the buttons and button holes on my Olya Shirt as well!

Tilly & the Buttons – Tabitha Dress

I’ve already started this so it should be completed soon! I’ve made it in a black based floral cotton jersey from Material Girl Laura. It’s forced me to pattern draft and I’ve used buttonholes successfully with my machine!

Friday Pattern Co – Sagebrush top

As soon as this pattern was released, I knew I needed it! It’s got so many gorgeous details!I’ve got two potential fabrics for it. I can’t wait to get this made!

Megan Nielsen – Flint Cullottes

One of my take away’s from Me Made May was that I need more trousers/skirts. I also need more summer clothes! This combines the two! I want to make a pair of culottes/ shorter length trousers as I think I will wear them a lot. I’ve made the Flint shorts a while ago and really enjoyed the process so I’ve decided to make the longer length version. I’ll be using a khaki coloured linen viscose.

The Avid Seamstress – Sheath dress

I could do with more summer clothes and this is a lovely dress pattern. I have this cut out, ready to sew and it looks pretty simple to make. I’m using a lovely navy dotty print viscose I got from Felicity Fabrics.

The Avid Seamstress – Sun Dress

It seems to be an Avid Seamstress month! I’ve loved this pattern for a while and it’s quite different from my usual style, but I think it’s the perfect summer dress. I’m going to make it in a linen viscose from Like Sew Amazing.

I think that’s more than enough to keep me busy! I have lots more plans and new patterns are always being released!

What are you sewing this month?
