January sewing plans

I’ve decided to go back to monthly sewing plans and try and stick to a regular blogging schedule in 2020. New year, new start and all that! My plans last year got a bit jumbled up and out of sync so I’m trying to keep a bit of order around here!

I love a new year as I have all good intentions and lots of ideas and I’m also off work over Christmas so I get time to do a bit of sewing. I think I may be a bit ambitious with my January plans but I always think it’s better to aim high! I’ve tied in my Make Nine plans and my #sewmuchbetter plans and here is what I plan to make in January.

Leggings – For #sewmuchbetter, my theme is activewear so I want to make some leggings. They are a wardrobe staple and would get a lot of wear. I’ve ordered a couple of fabrics from Girl Charlee as they had a 50% off January Sale! I can’t decide whether to use the Avery leggings from Helen’s Closet or the Virginia leggings from Megan Neilsen. Or I could make both!

Tshirt – I bought Melissa Fehr’s Sew Your Own Activewear in anticipation for #sewmuchbetter. There’s loads of patterns that I’d like to try but I’m going to start with the Raglan Tee. It’s a loose fitting tshirt with an interesting design so I think I’ll get a lot of wear out of it.

Hoodie – No workout ensemble is complete without a hoodie! At the moment I’m undecided between the Stella hoodie by Tilly and the Buttons or the hoodie in Sew Your Own Activewear. The Stella set was on my Make Nine for last year but I never got round to it but I do like the asymmetric design of the other. Decisions Decisions!

Helen’s closet – Pona Jacket – I bought this pattern and fabric in the Black Friday sales and am keen to get started on it. The fabric is an Abraham Moon tweed wool with coloured flecks in it. I got it from Fabric Godmother. I want to make the longer length jacket but I don’t quite have enough fabric so hopefully I can play pattern tetris, or the jacket will be somewhere between the longer and shorter lengths. I also will get to use my wooden clapper that I got for Christmas!

As always, there are lots of other things I’d like to make as well and my plans may change! I’ll see you in February to see how I got on!
