I’m back with lots of plans and ideas for a new season! I love this time of year… starting to get colder, all the autumnal colours, Halloween, bonfire night, the run up to Christmas and most importantly, my birthday! These are all getting me excited to get behind the sewing machine again.
As we know, I’m not the best at sticking to plans. I have so many ideas but not many of them come to fruition. The plans I’m going to share are my more imminent plans and the ones I have the fabric and/or pattern ready. Let me know your plans as well! I love to know what other people are making.

Paola Top – Named Clothing
This is a bit of a cheat because I’ve already made it (see my last post). I love this pattern. It’s such a great basic and I love anything turtleneck. I’ve made it in a navy, sparkly rib knit but I also want to make a couple of basic black jersey ones. They will get worn to death!
Frankie Tshirt – Tilly & the Buttons
This one is already cut out and will probably get made today! I’ve wanted to make one of these since I got Tilly’s book earlier this year. This will be my second project from her Stretch book. I’ve been searching for a good quality jersey and I’ve bought a metre of black and a metre of a light grey marl from Stitchy Bee. On her YouTube videos, she’s made a few of these Tshirts and lists the jersey in her shop as ‘the perfect jersey’. The quality of these are really really good! Hopefully, this wil become a wardrobe staple!
Southbank sweater dress – Nina Lee London
This is another pattern that I’ve had for a while and I’ve been wanting to make for ages. I love a cosy sweatshirt so the obvious next step is to make a sweater dress! I haven’t chosen a fabric yet but I plan on buying some at the end of the month so this can be made. I think it will be a super quick make and another item that I live in. I’m very excited for this one!
Nikki cardigan – AK Patterns
So this is a project that I don’t have either fabric or the pattern for yet, however, I plan on buying both in the next week or so. This is a spontaneous plan. I had no plans for a cardigan but then I saw The Stitch Sisters video of this cardigan (and the Rachel jumpsuit) styled 3 ways (these two patterns are named after the lovely Stitch Sisters). I decided I needed this wrap cardi in my life. And it will be my #cosycardichallenge entry. At the moment, I’m thinking a ponte roma but I may make it in a medium weight knit.
Simplicity 8545 dress
This project is a bit special. I plan on it being my Christmas party dress! It’s also my #sewfrosting entry – something that’s fun and frivolous. I saw the pattern and I immediately thought of the tulle I got off Ebay a while ago. It’s pretty much the same as the pattern envelope picture except mine is black. I’m going to make A and E. I just need to get some fabric for the slip dress and I’m thinking of using bias binding on the edges of the tulle.
Leopard print skirt
I’ve got 2m of a lovely leopard print crepe from Stof and Still but I cannot decide which pattern to make! The five contenders are: the Marie Wrap skirt from Rosy Pena Patterns, the Evie bias skirt from Tessuti fabrics, the Ariel skirt from Style Arc, the Byhandlondon wrap circle skirt and Simplicity 8699 view E. When I’ve decided which pattern, I will definitely have a leopard print wrap skirt in my life! Let me know which one you think!
Libby shirt – Sew Over It
I’ve added this one in as I’m currently working on it. It’s actually one of my summer plans but I’ve only just got round to it! The style is really similar to one I bought in New Look recently that they had in every shade and print possible. I love the loose fit of it.
Ultimate Trousers – Sew Over It
My final plan (for now) is my Ultimate Trousers by Sew Over It that I have had for at least 2 years ready to make! I definitely plan on making these this winter. I’ve got the online class so that should help me loads. It’d be nice to have some smart trousers for work or trousers that aren’t jeans for weekends.
I have loads more plans and ideas but these are my priorities at the moment. Knowing me, these could all change tomorrow and I’m sure a sneaky project will get bumped to the top of the list as well!
Let me know your Autumn/Winter plans too!
