Hi everyone, I’m sorry for the silence! I’ve just been mega busy with work and barely had time to sew. Sewing seems to be a school holiday hobby for me!
I have almost finished my Sew Over It Vintage Shirt Dress, I just need to figure out how to make buttonholes. It’s actually been almost finished since January. I keep practising button holes with my sewing machine but they never seem to go right. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong! It sews one side perfectly but then the other side never seems right. I’ll figure it out soon!
I’ve also made a toile of Sew Over It’s Ultimate trousers. I’ve never made proper trousers before (PJs don’t count!) so wanted to check the fit before I made them for real. I graded from a 12 at the waist to a 10 at the hip. They fit but only just so I might use a smaller seam allowance when I make them. I think a 14 at the waist would be too big. Also, I think I need to add a couple of cm to the length. I’ve got a weird length leg. Regular length trousers are always a tad too short for me but long length are too long! Anyways, I’m looking forward to making them . They’re really easy to make!
I’ve also been getting excited about Spring/Summer sewing and planning a few things to make. As usual, there are a million patterns I want to make so I’m going to keep it to few things so I’m not over ambitious! I’ve even sent off for some samples of different fabrics. Here are a few things I’d like to make this spring:
Sew Over It Ultimate Trousers in this black and white cotton sateen
Tilly and the Button’s Arielle Skirt in denim?
Inari Crop Tee in this coral Peach Skin
Tilly and the Button’s Fifi Pj set in a cotton lawn (haven’t decided which yet)
There are loads more things on my potential list such as Tilly’s Bettine Dress and her new Martha pattern, Sew Over It’s Tulip Skirt, Silk Cami, By Hand London’s Sarah Shirt, GBSB Casual Trousers, plus several bits out of Sew Over It Vintage and finish making everything in Tilly’s Love at First Stitch book. There’s so many patterns, not enough time!!
What are you making this Spring?
