Named Clothing Inari Tee dress

Completed dress – not the best photo

Now that it’s school holidays, I’ve got back behind my sewing machine and have rustled up the lovely Inari Tee dress by Named. I’ve seen quite a few of these pop up on other sewing blogs and everybody seems to rave about how easy and fabulous this pattern is! I have to say, I agree!

This is the second item I’ve made by Named Clothing and I really like their modern take on clothing. I always look forward to their new collections and have a million things of theirs on my to sew wish list!

This dress is basically a long tshirt. But, it has a cocoon shape, making it slightly different from other dresses in this style. It also has lovely design features such as a shorter front and longer back, and vents at the side. These details are what make Named’s patterns stand out in my opinion.

Crepe fabric

I decided to sew it using a gorgeous teal crepe fabric, which I got from Fabric Godmother. Can we just take a second to gush about how awesome crepe is to sew with! I have quite a few crepe garments from high street stores and I do like it, especially for going out clothes. I’d avoided sewing with it because I thought it would slippery and difficult to sew with. How wrong was I??? It’s so easy. Like a dream! I now want to use crepe ALL THE TIME!

Part way through

I could probably have sewn this up in one sitting if I’d had a whole day to dedicate to it. It probably took 2-3 hours from cutting out to finished dress, but I made it in stages. I made a straight size 12 (UK size) but could maybe have graded to a 10 around the waist/hips. I know it’s supposed to be baggy but it’s possibly a bit too baggy. The problem with Named’s patterns (the PDF versions) is that the sizes aren’t nested so the 10 and 12 were on separate patterns which made grading more difficult. So I didn’t bother!

However, I love love love this dress. It’s so comfy! I plan on making a couple more nearer the summer. Maybe a linen or chambray version?
